Meet Nyk,
Your Personal Trainer
The Full Story
SKYN Fitness didn’t start with a business plan or a perfectly mapped-out career path.
It started with injuries, resilience, and a deep belief that movement can change lives—when it’s done the right way.
Where It All Began
Before I was a trainer, I was an athlete. Cheerleading, skiing, pushing my body hard—and paying the price for it. Injuries became a recurring theme in my life, and with them came frustration, fear, and the realization that so many people are taught how to push, but not how to build, heal, and sustain their bodies.
That experience shaped everything that came next.
I became a personal trainer because I wanted answers.
Not quick fixes.
Not trendy workouts.
Real understanding.
Formal Education: Building the Foundation
Before I ever trained a client on my own, I immersed myself in formal education at the National Personal Training Institute (NPTI) in Orlando, Florida.
NPTI isn’t a weekend certification—it’s an in-depth, hands-on program focused on anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, program design, and real coaching hours on the gym floor. It gave me a structured, classroom-based understanding of how the body works long before social media fitness trends were even on my radar.
During my time in Orlando, something else unexpected happened—I fell in love with Florida, and yes, with Walt Disney World. There was something powerful about being in a place built on imagination, reinvention, and possibility. It reminded me that growth doesn’t have to feel intimidating. It can be intentional, creative, and even joyful. That lesson stayed with me—and it’s a big part of how I approach fitness today.
From there, I continued my education and earned my certification through the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM)—one of the most respected, science-based standards in the industry. ACSM emphasizes clinical understanding, injury prevention, and long-term health.
I didn’t want to just make people sweat. I wanted to make sure what we were doing was safe, effective, and purposeful.
Learning the “Why,” Not Just the Workout
That foundation led me into nearly a decade working inside a physical therapy clinic. There, I learned how bodies truly heal—how pain, fear, chronic illness, surgery, aging, and life itself affect movement. I worked alongside physical therapists, helped clients transition from rehab back to real life, and saw firsthand how powerful proper guidance can be.
The People Who Changed Everything
Over the years, I’ve trained:
-
Older women who wanted to feel confident living independently
-
Clients recovering from injuries and surgeries
-
People navigating chronic illness and cancer
-
Athletes chasing performance goals
-
Busy professionals who just wanted their bodies to stop hurting
-
And people who didn’t believe they were “fitness people” at all
Some came to me scared. Some came skeptical. Some came broken down—physically or emotionally.
And some of the moments I’m most proud of?
Helping someone regain confidence after a fall.
Watching a client trust their body again after injury.
Being told I saved someone’s life simply by helping them start.
Imposter Syndrome (Yes, Still)
Even with years of experience, certifications, and success stories, I still feel imposter syndrome at times. And I think that’s because I care deeply about doing this work right. Fitness is loud. Social media is full of extremes. And I never want to be the trainer who makes it about ego.
What I do know is this:
I know bodies. I know movement. And I know how to meet people where they are—and help them move forward safely.
Why SKYN Fitness Exists
SKYN Fitness was created for people who want more than a workout.
It’s for:
-
People who want to understand why they’re doing an exercise
-
People who need modifications, patience, and encouragement
-
People who want strength that actually carries into real life
-
People who want fitness to feel empowering—not punishing
My philosophy is simple:
Train the person, not just the goal.
Build from the basics.
Make movement feel good.
Create something sustainable for life.

Why ACSM Matters
Not all personal training certifications are created equal—and ACSM (American College of Sports Medicine) is considered the gold standard in the fitness and medical world.
ACSM-certified trainers are educated through a science-based, evidence-driven approach, not trends or quick fixes. This means your program is built around how the body actually works, with a strong emphasis on safety, proper progression, and long-term results.
What that means for you:
-
Smarter programming tailored to your body
-
Experience working with injuries, chronic conditions, and real-life limitations
-
A focus on strength, function, and longevity—not extremes
-
Training that supports your health now and for years to come
Because fitness shouldn’t break you down—it should build you up.
